Welcome to the Department of Nursing

We currently offer three pathways that result in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Admission to Concord University and declaration of Nursing as a major does not guarantee a spot in the Nursing Program. To be considered for admission to the Nursing Program, candidates must satisfy requirements for the appropriate pathway. Explore the pages below to see which of our pathways is right for you!

At Undergraduate Research Day 2024, Nursing students Marin Fiddler and Shannon Phipps presented their research poster on the Importance of Cultural Diversity in Healthcare. Marin and Shannon researched this important topic under the guidance of Dr. Martha Snider. We are so proud of their hard work!

The Department of Nursing is a proud sponsor of 103CIR’s Teacher of the Month award. This month the award was given to Brittany Worley, who teaches the 9th grade at Woodrow Wilson High School. Our very own Dr. Michele Holt and Professor Shannon Hilling, pictured far right, were honored to present this award to Brittany. Click here to nominate a West Virginia teacher for next month!

Regional Accreditation

Since October 2022, Concord University’s Nursing Program has been regionally accredited in the state of West Virginia by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

National Accreditation

We recognize the demand for nurses across the U.S., so our program is also pursuing national accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). National accreditation does not affect licensure, but allows our graduates to go across state lines if they want to further their education. Completion of our BSN program allows for unlimited possibilities!

The mission of Concord University’s BSN Program is to prepare competent, professional, compassionate nursing graduates dedicated to equitable, safe, quality, service-minded, patient-centered care and leadership throughout diverse populations to improve the lives of our students and communities across the region and beyond.

Department of Nursing Faculty and Staff

The nursing faculty at CU have more than 100 years of combined nursing experience in all areas of nursing care, from neonatal intensive care units and emergency care to nursing education and administration.
