Biography
Dr. Engelhardt received his Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Radford University. After teaching elementary education in the classroom, he completed his Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction at Virginia Tech. His experiences teaching elementary education and working with pre-service teaching candidates have influenced his passion for preparing future educators and conducting research that assists in the improvement of elementary school quality. When he is not teaching, Dr. Engelhardt enjoys spending time writing, working on projects related to elementary education, spending time with his three daughters and wife, and engaging with his community.

Research
Dr. Engelhardt’s research interests include: Sacrificial Listening, teacher-student relationships, student motivation, the implementation of Universal Design for Learning, and digital game-based learning.
