CONCORD UNIVERSITY NURSING PROGRAM RECEIVES NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
ATHENS, WV – The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Board of Commissioners has granted national accreditation status to the Concord University Nursing Program. At its meeting the Board determined that the program meets all four accreditation standards, and that there are no concerns in regard to compliance with respect to key elements. The accreditation action is effective as of January 31, 2024, and was granted by the Board using CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs (2018).
This accreditation status allows students who graduate from Concord University with a BSN to continue their studies at any graduate program in the United States. This also means that Concord University’s nursing program is one that provides graduates with rigorous benchmarks recognized throughout the United States that meet and/or exceed standards in nursing education.
Dr. Kendra Boggess, President of Concord University, celebrates the achievement saying, “I want to extend my deepest congratulations to our incredible nursing faculty and team members for their outstanding work in developing Concord University’s inaugural nursing program, which has just received its accreditation. This is a huge achievement for the institution and a testament to our faculty and staff’s dedication and expertise. The efforts we have made have paved the way for Concord to make a lasting impact on our local community, region, and state, while providing our amazing students with the opportunity to excel in a critical field. With this accreditation in place through 2029, we are poised to continue building a program that will shape the future of healthcare.”
Concord’s Director of Nursing, Dr. Michele Holt says of the accomplishment, “We are absolutely thrilled to have received National accreditation through CCNE! This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the nursing department and the University as a whole. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our nursing students, colleagues and administration. This is a great time for Concord University Nursing; we are proud of our nursing program and the opportunities this designation provides to all of our nursing students!”
