CONCORD UNIVERSITY TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY IN
CELEBRATION OF NEWLY INSTALLED BLEACHERS IN CARTER CENTER

ATHENS, WV – Concord University is pleased to announce a ribbon cutting ceremony, open to the public, on August 21 at 11 AM to be held in the Carter Center on the Concord University campus to celebrate the recently installed bleachers. The bleachers have been generously donated by HES Custodial Services. A dedicated sign will be presented and light refreshments will follow in the lobby.

The bleacher installation project began on February 29 and wrapped up on April 3. The need for this was great, as the old bleachers were unsafe and unattractive, and had to be pulled out manually. The new bleachers are automatic and motorized for easy operation. This improvement has modernized the facility and greatly improved the playing atmosphere. In addition, the upgrade makes a huge impact on recruiting for Concord’s athletic programs.

This donation marks another milestone in the 17-year partnership between HES Facilities Management and Concord University. “We are thrilled to contribute to Concord University’s continued growth and success,” said Russell Leboff, Regional Vice President at HES. “Our longstanding partnership with Concord University has been very rewarding, and we are proud to support their mission of providing an outstanding educational environment.”

The job was facilitated by Rich Strayer with Maffei Strayer Furnishings. Concord’s Physical Plant crew were involved every step of the way, saving Concord a considerable amount of money on the installation. Once the old bleachers were removed, electrical power was run for the new automatic bleachers. The team also assisted with delivery and getting the new equipment into the gymnasium.

Steve Miller, Director of Facilities speaks highly of the work accomplished, saying, “The Physical Plant team never ceases to amaze me with their can-do spirit and willingness to contribute each and every time a need arises.”
