CONCORD STUDENTS PRESENT RESEARCH AT ANNUAL GEOGRAPHY CONFERENCE

ATHENS, WV – Concord University students Abby Stovall and Haidyn DePinho traveled with Environmental Geosciences professor Dr. Tom Saladyga to the 2023 Meeting of the Southeastern Division of the American Association of Geographers in Norfolk, Virginia on November 19–20. Both students presented their research in the undergraduate poster session.

Stovall, an honors student seeking the minor in Geospatial Information Science, presented her research titled “GIS and Social Media: Trends in Technology and Applications to Mass Shooting Prevention.”

DePinho, Environmental Geosciences major and McNair Scholar, presented her research titled “Expanding the Pine Woodland Fire History Record at New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.”

Their work, supervised by Dr. Saladyga, demonstrates the range of issues that students can explore in the Environmental Geosciences major and Geospatial Information Science minor.
