Jean Dickens has been a tireless supporter of Concord and the local community, exemplifying a life of service in helping others. In honor of her late husband, Dale, who was Concord’s first Admissions Director, she established “Dale and Jean Dickens Scholarship Fund”. The Dickens’ supported students many times in many ways throughout their time at Concord. They attended all sporting events, plays, picnics, banquets, graduations, and any other activity involving Concord students. They delighted in the accomplishments of students and enjoyed encouraging them on their path to success. As a result of their tireless efforts, Concord University awarded Honorary Doctorate Degrees to both Dale and Jean on December 9, 2017 for their dedication to the University in all areas.
Because of these rich experiences with students, Jean decided to establish this scholarship fund. Jean recalls, “Each day was a new and exciting opportunity. We were never bored in all our years at Concord. There was always something that kept us looking forward.”
