CONCORD UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE LISTENING SESSION FOR THE COMMUNITY

ATHENS, WV – The search for the next President of Concord University is underway, including a series of listening sessions for faculty, staff, students and the community to share perspectives to help ensure the next leader truly understands and embodies the values and needs of the Concord community. The public is invited to attend the community listening session being held on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00 PM in the Pais Fellowship Hall located on the lower level of University Point on the Concord University campus. All comments are welcome, and an open, honest dialogue is encouraged during this session.

To help initiate these conversations, here is a series of questions that may facilitate discussion:

  1. What qualities and experiences do you believe are essential for our next president?
  2. What challenges and opportunities do you see for Concord University in the coming years?
  3. How can the next president best support our students, faculty, staff, and community?
  4. What are your hopes for the future of Concord University?
  5. What aspect of Concord do you feel is the most appealing to a potential candidate? What makes you proud to be part of the CU Community and optimistic about its future?
  6. What are the major opportunities and challenges that CU is currently facing and what strategies will the next leader need to focus on as their top priorities in their first year of service?
  7. What kind of track record should the new President have in terms of fundraising and financial management?
  8. How important is it for the new President to have experience in community engagement and building external partnerships?
  9. What qualities should the new President have to effectively advocate for the University at the state and national level?
  10. How important is it for the new president to have a background in academia versus other sectors, such as business or government?
