Biography

Ashley’s nursing journey began when she completed the CNA program in high school. Since then, she has climbed the nursing ladder, transitioning from an LPN to RN and eventually earning an MSN degree with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from Bluefield University. In addition to her role as an Assistant Professor of Nursing here at Concord University, she is also actively practicing as a Nurse Practitioner, a role that she finds particularly fulfilling and enjoyable.

Throughout her nursing career, Ashley has had privilege of working in various healthcare settings, including skilled nursing, primary care, behavioral health, newborn nursery, and postpartum care. These diverse experiences have helped broaden her clinical expertise and deepened her appreciation for the many unique nursing disciplines. Among the different nursing fields, pediatrics has become her favorite.
Ashley believes that one of the most rewarding aspects of nursing is the ability to provide compassionate care and support during some of life’s most challenging moments. She believes that each interaction as a nurse holds the potential to profoundly impact patients.

Throughout Ashley’s nursing journey, she has also developed a passion for mentoring, teaching, and encouraging aspiring nursing students as well as new nurses. Her goal is not only to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills for success in their nursing career but also to boost their confidence, empowering nursing students to become competent and compassionate nurses who make a difference in our community.

Beyond the world of healthcare, Ashley enjoys spending quality time with her family and dog, Abby. She has been happily married for 10 years, and together, they have two energetic boys who keep her on her toes and inspire her daily. In addition to family time, she is passionate about personal well-being. She believes strongly in the importance of self-care, which for her, includes activities like yoga, reading, and exploring new places through travel.
