Concord University Athletics is committed to seeing our athletes succeed whether it is on the field or in the classroom. The GRIP program is designed to offer structured academic support for student athletes.

Student athletes who are required to log study hours must check in and out through the fingerprint scanning system located at the Learning Center mezzanine in the Library.

Having trouble? Ask the library front desk!

Required GRIP Hours for Athletes
  • Freshmen: 3 hours every week in first semester
  • Others (after first semester of freshman year): Dependent on Cumulative GPA
    • Ask your head coach how many hours a week you need. Tutoring is required in some cases.

Your coach/graduate assistant coach will let you know what their expectations are for GRIP hours. See the Student-Athlete Handbook for additional details.

Need Tutoring?

If you are a student athlete and need GRIP hours, but also need tutoring, you can complete a grip slip. Students can earn grip hours while receiving tutoring in the Study Lounge in the Student Center. Grip slips will be available in the Study Lounge with the tutors.

Student athletes will fill out the grip slip and have their tutor sign. Then, they will bring the slip to the designated staff member for GRIP in the Learning Center in the Library.
